Trippy privacy policy
Last updated 18 October 2026. Trippy (the handlebar display and its phone app) is made by Lucky Wamankar, India. Questions or requests: lwamanker@gmail.com.
Trippy is built to know as little about you as it can. Your rides, saved places and ride history stay on your phone. Our servers keep only your account and the Trippys you paired, and they never keep where you went.
What we keep, and why
- Your account, if you sign in: your email address, how you signed in (Google, Apple or email), and what you choose to add (name, age range, city). It lets you sign in on another phone and lets us support your Trippy.
- Your Trippys: each paired Trippy's ID (like Trippy-7F3A), its software version, and when it was first and last seen. It helps with updates and support.
- Problem reports you send from the app: what you write, the app and Trippy versions, and, only if you tick them, the app's log and your last ride. Kept 90 days.
- Anonymous usage counts: how many rides, km, routes and searches happen each day, by app version and phone type. Never who or where. Turn them off in Settings › Help.
- Crash reports (Google Firebase Crashlytics): what failed in the app, the phone model, its software version and a random ID for the app install. No account, place or position.
- Notifications ("News from Trippy", on unless you turn it off in Settings › Help): so updates reach the right riders, your phone tells Google Firebase Cloud Messaging a few labels: phone type, app version, whether a Trippy is paired and its software version, whether it's a test unit, the city in your profile if you gave one, and a random account number (not your email). We never store your phone's notification address, and we keep a log of the notifications we send (what and to which labels), never of who got them.
- Pre-production and loaner Trippys only: their rides are uploaded for testing, as the tester agreement says. Rides from Trippys sold to riders are never uploaded.
What passes through but isn't kept
- Routes: to plan a route, the app sends the start and destination to our routing server (in Mumbai, India). The route comes back; the request is not stored or logged.
- Place search: what you type is sent through our server to Google's Places service to find places, with your position rounded to about 1 km so nearby places come first. We don't log searches. We keep a cache of places (names and coordinates of places, never of people), so the same place needn't be asked from Google again.
- Email sign-in codes: your address is stored only as a one-way hash while the code is valid, and the record is deleted within a day.
- Calls, messages and music on Trippy: the caller's name, a message preview or the song title goes from your phone to your Trippy over Bluetooth only. It never reaches our servers.
What stays on your phone
Your location while riding, ride history and tracks, saved places (Home, Work and others), and app settings. Uninstalling the app deletes them.
Who helps us run Trippy
- Cloudflare: our servers and database (Asia-Pacific), map files, email delivery records.
- Oracle Cloud (Mumbai): route planning.
- Google: place search (Places), Google sign-in, crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics), notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging).
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, on iPhone.
- Resend: sends the sign-in code emails.

Deleting your account
In the app: Settings › Account › Delete account. Or on the web, without the app: trippy.luckywamankar.com/delete-account. Your account, its sign-ins and its list of Trippys are deleted at once. We keep one anonymous line (the month you joined, the month you left, how many Trippys you had) to count riders over time; it can't be linked back to you.
Your rights
You can see and change your account details in the app, and delete your account at any time. For a copy of what we hold about you, or any privacy question or complaint (including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), write to lwamanker@gmail.com; Lucky Wamankar answers within 30 days.
Children
Trippy is made for riders aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly keep accounts of children; if you think a child has an account, write to us and we'll delete it.
Changes
When this policy changes, we update the date at the top and tell you in the app if the change matters.
